If like me, you can be a little heavy handed at times. You may at times put just a little too little pressure on the primer spray can, and then maybe over-compensate the other way with a little too much pressure. And of course the end result being a blob of paint all over your nice miniatures. Biostrip 20 to remove paint from models anyone?

Well, that’s of course never happened to me or caused me to ponder what I’d do to avoid that very situation.

Enter, the Krylon snap and spray gun attachment. Basically, a trigger pistol grip for your spray can. And because Warhammer didn’t have enough guns.

How to use the Krylon snap and spray gun

  1. Warm up your can of spray paint (5 mins of hard shaking)
  2. Pop off the red cap at the top of the gun (you don’t ever need it, so keep it off forever)
  3. Place the gun over the top of the nozzle, so it seats against the raised bit of the spray can
  4. Push down on the edge of attachment over the top of the nozzle
  5. Once you hear the snap, then align the nozzle with the direction of the pistol grip
  6. And then spray with more control than ever

Why would you bother with one of these attachments?

Worth every penny of the 500 pennies it costs

It’s all about control. The pressure required to compress a spray nozzle on a can is quite high, and the total movement is quite low. So you need practice and a steady hand to get the pressure just right. And because of the spraying technique and the need to move models, you likely need to be able to repeat this technique on demand.

Whereas with the pistol grip attachment:

  • You have much greater control over the pressure applied
  • Longer travel means more control
  • Longer lever means more control and less fatigue
  • Pistol grip hand position allows more fingers to be used (more force if required, and less fatigue)
  • Pistol grip allows more comfortable operation for longer sessions or those with weak grip

Overall, for the £5 it costs to buy this attachment (and I’m sure there are many like it), it’s really a no-brainer.

Hope this helps.
